What happens when two strangers who are running away from their past meet? What if their pasts overlap in unexpected ways?
Will- went to an outstanding college and got an MBA and a high-paying job and one day left it all behind because his grandfather taught him to “never have a job you can’t walk away from.” He left his rich family, his girlfriend, and his job without a word or a second thought. After twelve years as a migrant farmer, perhaps he has found a reason to stick around.
Patri- an artist and a free spirit, Patri has been running and hiding for the past decade. She isn’t open with her secrets or her trust, but there is something about Will Staige that convinces her to take a chance.
There comes a time when you have to stop running away from your past, and move toward something. Have Will and Patri found that time together?

I gave this book a fair shake, but I just couldn't reconcile the issues I had with it. The storyline, while a bit predictable in some points, seemed interesting and I wanted to know how it ended. Unfortunately the dialogue constantly felt stilted and unnatural to me. Furthermore, there seemed to be a need for the author to describe things in full and extravagant detail that had no bearing to the story while at the same time brushing past details that were more important to the storyline. I wanted to like this book, but I couldn't sift through the writing style to find it worthwhile.

On the bright side, the author did show good pacing with the storyline. Often times authors who go into unnecessary detail on the little things also show poor pacing with the main point and I didn't feel that was the case here.

This book had a lot going for it - interesting characters, interesting story. Well done. My only complaint is not simply using the words he said or she said instead of trying to come up with different words to say basically the same thing. I found this quite distracting as I read along. Other than that little item, I enjoyed this book.
Cherry Wood is an enjoyable book, a real page turner that is hard to put down. It will surprise you with its twists and turns, and an ending that will make you feel good. I highly reccomend this book. It has something in it for all age groups.
Entertaining and easy to read. The author combines genres, especially mystery and romance, so that the book has something for everyone. Dickerson develops interesting and introspective characters, exploring their thoughts as they navigate their world. The book lends itself to film, but that will have to wait. In the meantime, it makes a great gift.
"Cherry Wood" is interesting because of its character development. After reading "Stargirl" by Jerry Spinelli in middle school, I developed a soft spot for off-beat literary characters. Patri is one such character whose actions and unique quirks keep you guessing, and makes for an entertaining read. Especially when she's on the run from a private investigator seeking vindication for a serious crime...but you'll have to read the book to find out what that is.

So why 3 stars? The writing was well-paced, but there are some chapters dedicated to a character going back in time to tell a story. The POV completely changes, and the dialogue disappears, which I found a bit odd. But other than that, it was a good book. Especially when one character chastises another for ending a sentence with a preposition. My inner grammar nerd was quite pleased.
Cherry Wood is an easy and entertaining read. It was a page turner that kept me wanting to know what was going to happen next (therefore I finished it in about 3 hours!). The characters and their stories are intriguing and there are lots of unexpected situations that won't leave you dissapointed. This would be a great book to read for pure enjoyment, excitment and an sense of mystery. Fantastic job!
Entertaining & fast paced. I found myself thinking about the book & the characters throughout the day & looked for every chance to pick it up & keep reading.
